A STORM in Scotland | !New Event Added! | Recent Story Consumption | Book 3 Updates
Excerpts from Rayleigh’s Journal in Scotland:
January 25th
7:53 AM
We essentially lost the entirety of our Glencoe stay due to a storm that blew in, though we were fortunate enough to only have lost power once—and for a few minutes at that. According to the local news source we’ve been reading, there are millions of people without power. Glencoe, however, seems to have missed the majority of the storm, which is terrifying to consider since the windows threatened to cave in against the wind.
At one point, I watched the wind gusts roll down the mountain and off the water directly into the house. I could see them like waves of white clouds billowing towards us in intense bursts only to calm down until the next gust came through. It did that all day, pelting rain and ice, so we opted to remain in our cozy house with the view of the water.
A Knight is Crowned Update
Currently sitting at 13 chapters, A Knight is Crowned is seeing progress! There is so much that goes into writing a trilogy that I never expected and I have to keep reminding myself that this is my first trilogy so as to not feel discouraged. I defer back to the first books so often that I feel like I’m writing this draft in slow motion. However, I’m reconnecting with some local writers to do weekly writing sprints throughout the summer, which I hope will keep the momentum going. All that said, progress is progress!
“Recent Story Consumption”
Three books I’ve read recently that deserve a galaxy of stars:
I’ve only read the first two (out of seven) Dungeon Crawler Carl books, but I’m absolutely obsessed! This LitRPG series is full of humor, dungeons and dragons lore, and the most iconic duo to ever grace a dungeon: Human Carl & Princess Donut (a show cat). The series is available on Kindle Unlimited!
Content warnings: Lots of profanity, dark humor, and gore. No spicy scenes, though there are some sexual innuendos, topics, and nudity.
I enjoyed A Quiet Dissonance despite it being one of my least read genres: Women’s Fiction. It’s a glimpse into the life of an Indian woman who’s settling in England and trying to find her place in a new culture. It’s a slower paced book, but it’s an anthem for the importance of female friendships.
Content notes: No action/gore. Romance is limited to a few kisses and brief fade-to-black scenes. Cursing is very mild, with only a handful of words used.
The Dark Realm series (Shadows of the Dark Realm and Reapers of the Dark Realm) are at the top of my list for 2025 (so far)! These are thick, epic fantasy books filled with nonstop action, quests, dragons, and top tier comradery. And a villain so bad that you will find your own dark side rooting for their demise. While the action is high, you won’t encounter any profanity or romance in these two books, though, warning, it’s not a complete series yet. But with 500-600 pages each, you might want to get a head start on this series because I have no idea how many books will be added. Both books are on Kindle Unlimited.

Thank you for your support and I hope you find some amazing books to explore! If you need a recommendation, I’ve recently backed this Kickstarter! Song of the Broken is an Epic Fantasy novel about Vikings rescuing children from Trafficking and the Kickstarter has partnered with Lantern Rescue, which is an organization actively fighting child trafficking. If you’re able to, I highly recommend backing this project!
